WENATCHEE, Wash. — A malware attack on the computer systems of Chelan County forced the county to shutdown its network, computer and telephone system.
The attack was discovered Sunday morning by the Chelan County IT department. The extent of the damage is not known at this time.
As of Monday afternoon the county’s website was down. It’s Facebook page remained functioning.
People who have an emergency can call Rivercom 911. The sheriff’s office said the malware attack should not impact response times.
Monday afternoon, Chelan County Judge Kristin Ferrera posted on social media, ” We are having court tomorrow but it might be on a more limited basis. Our filing system, emails and phones are down for now. If you need to reach the court for any reason please do not message any of the judges directly, but you can email chelancountysuperiorcourt@gmail.com. I will provide updated information as I have it.”
The Chelan County IT department said it expects to have an update on the system Tuesday.
