ROUND LAKE STATE PARK, Idaho — A nasty invader is causing problems at Idaho’s Round Lake State Park and the solution is ice cream.
The park kicked off its invasive snail bounty campaign Memorial Day Weekend. Visitors are encouraged to collect as many snails as they can and drop them off at the visitors center. Anyone who turns in at least 18 snails receives an ice cream treat.
The invasive snail started showing up at the popular fishing spot near Sagle about ten years ago. It’s suspected that someone dumped them into the lake from an aquarium and the snails rapidly reproduced.
