Chains required for eastbound travelers on Snoqualmie Pass

SNOQUALMIE PASS, Wash. – Due to snow on the roadway, chains are required for all vehicles except all-wheel drive that are traveling eastbound on Snoqualmie Pass.

For travelers heading westbound on Snoqualmie Pass traction tires are required and chains are required for vehicles over 10,000 gross vehicle weight.

Snoqualmie Pass is teaming up with Washington State Patrol (WSP) to enforce chain requirements. Not chaining up could cost you $500, according to Snoqualmie Pass on Twitter.

Oversized vehicles are prohibited in both directions.
