Carnival cruise ship rescues 2 men stranded in a kayak in the Gulf of Mexico

ISLA MUJERES, Mexico — On Monday, Carnival’s Jubilee team rescued two men stranded in a kayak in the Gulf of Mexico.

On Jan. 29 the ship set sail on their scheduled route from Texas to the western Caribbean, the cruise team spotted two men off Isla Mujeres.

In a news release from Carnival, the two men said that they ended up in the middle of the ocean after their boat sank and used the kayak to stay afloat.

As the men were welcomed on the ship, they were evaluated by medical staff, given first aid and food.

During this time, the ship’s team and Carnival’s Fleet Operation Center staff got in touch with Mexican navy officials and arranged a transfer to get the men home safely.

After the transfer, the Carnival Jubilee proceeded with its regular schedule and will visit Mahogany Bay, Roatan on Tuesday.

Officials at this time have not released the identities of the men.
