SPOKANE, Wash. — Are you an adrenaline junkie? Do you like supporting the community? Well, Habitat for Humanity is offering both for you!

On Saturday, Oct. 14, Habitat for Humanity will be hosting their third Over The Edge fundraising event. Fundraisers will get the chance to rappel 22 stories to help families build financially affordable homes in Spokane County.

Fundraising Participants:

Participants in the event will be asked to raise at least $1,000 from friends, family, neighbors and anyone they know. It is $50 to register but goes towards the fundraising minimum.

On Oct. 14 that is when you will be strapped into your harness and repel down the largest building in Spokane, the Bank of America building. It stands at 288 feet tall!

Many Edgers put on fun costumes but remember, the harness will strap around the legs, waist, and shoulders, so avoid bulky costumes. A team of volunteers, a back-up device, and technicians make sure you’re safe the whole time.

If participants are not able to make it to the $1,000 mark, they have an extra 30 days to make up the difference. The Habitat staff is happy to help you reach your fundraising goal.

Whether facing your fears or seeking a thrill, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. To make it better the funds raised go towards Habitat’s goal of providing affordable and attainable homeownership for those in need.

“Habitat is determined to meet the growing need and remain a beacon of hope for those who cannot afford a safe and decent home,” says Habitat for Humanity-Spokane’s CEO, Michelle Girardot. “We are positioned to help families build intergenerational wealth through affordable homeownership and other strategic supports, such as developing more inclusive communities, and transforming our neighborhoods lacking resources into areas full of opportunity.”

If you aren’t rappelling down the building but want to be there to support the event there will be food trucks, music, photo booths and more! All of these festivities will be happening from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Wall Street.
