As weather gets chilly, Seattle nonprofit offers free winter clothes for local foster kids in need

SPOKANE, Wash. — As we head into the winter season, many families and children may not have warm enough clothes. A local nonprofit out of Seattle, Treehouse, is looking to help those individuals.

Treehouse works with foster kids to help them have a normal life, like other kids. They have different programs to help them with behavioral and mental health, accessing resources in school and to set them up for success when they graduate.

Each kid in their program works with a social worker to apply for the winter clothes program. There is an online catalog where kids can pick out what they want and have it shipped from the store in Seattle.

These kids will then get new clothes within two weeks from ordering!

Treehouse is accepting winter clothing donations. If you are wanting to donate, they are only accepting lightly-worn clothes.

There are many resources for kids in the foster care system, including this one, if you want to see what other programs are available or sign up for the winter clothing program, click here!
