SEATTLE, Wash. – Boeing will pay the federal government $27 million and will spend another $24 million on remedial compliance efforts in a US Department of State settlement which accused the company of violating the Arms Export Control Act.

According to the Department of State, Boeing transferred technical defense data to the Chinese government in violation of national security regulations.

The department emphasized that Boeing complied with Office of Defense Trade Controls Compliance throughout the investigation.

“All of the alleged violations were voluntarily disclosed, and a considerable majority predate 2020. Boeing cooperated with the…review of this matter and has incorporated numerous improvements to its compliance program since the conduct at issue,” the Department of State said.

Consent agreement details will be overseen by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls in conjunction with the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs Office of Congressional and Public Affairs.
