CHENEY, Wash. — Cheney Police Department have arrested a 20-year-old man for driving under the influence and hitting another vehicle at almost 100 miles per hour.

Just after midnight on Oct. 29, Cheney police officers were called to a serious crash at the intersection of 1st Street and F Street.

Witnesses have reported that a white Cheney Camaro was traveling fast down the road, said to be almost 100 miles per hour at the time of the collision. Another vehicle, a Honda CRV, was pulling out from a parking lot onto 1st Street when the driver of the Camaro hit them.

The impact of the crash caused the Honda to spin and crash into a tree located on the sidewalk near businesses. The Camaro left skid marks on the road that were over 280 feet in length.

As officers were on scene, they spoke to the 20-year-old man who was driving the Camaro. They conducted a field sobriety test to determine that the man was driving under influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

The driver of the other vehicle was treated on scene, while the 20-year-old man was arrested.

This is an ongoing investigation; information will be updated as we learn more.
