2 climbers rescued from Cutthroat Peak in Chelan

CHELAN, Wash. — Two Hikers were rescued from Cutthroat Peak on Monday after one lost his rope, and the other broke their leg.

According to the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), Rivercom Dispatch received a notification near Cutthroat Peak around 8 p.m. The message said one climber fell and broke his leg and the other lost their rope.

Officials spoke with friends who confirmed the two were climbing the Cauthorn-Wilson Couloir on Cutthroat Peak.

Washington State Emergency Management to requested a hoist capable helicopter and the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island accepted. Chelan County Mountain Rescue also responded, locating to the victims around 6:22 a.m.

The injured climber was flown to Harbor View Hospital for treatment. The uninjured climber was escorted to the trailhead.
