1 dead, 4 arrested after shooting in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. — One person is dead from a gunshot wound after Spokane Police chased a car in North Spokane.

According to the Spokane Police Department (SPD) in a news release, police chased a car involved in a shooting that took place in North-East Spokane on Feb. 16 around 1 p.m. Police said that the suspects threw items, including a firearm, at police and refused to stop the vehicle.

SPD got the car to pull over and remove the suspects from the car. They discovered a woman with a gunshot wound to her head. The woman was given medical attention and taken to the hospital, where she was declared dead.

SPD says Major Crimes Detectives questioned and arrested four suspects under these charges:

Christopher J. Gimmaka (18 ) 1st-degree attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit 1st-degree robbery, and three counts of 1st-degree assault.Kayden W. Willoughby (18) 1st-degree attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit 1st-degree robbery, and three counts of 1st-degree assault.Devin B. McEwen (18) 1st-degree attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit 1st-degree robbery, three counts of 1st-degree assault, and attempt to elude a police vehicle. A fourth suspect (16) was booked into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center for 1st-degree attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit 1st-degree robbery, and three counts of 1st-degree assault.

This investigation is ongoing, and police will update when there is more information.
