SPOKANE, Wash. – Cheyann Bailey, a Spokane woman who was arrested over the weekend for allegedly assaulting nurses at Deaconess Hospital, made her first appearance in court today.

According to court documents, Bailey was drunk driving when she slammed into the back of a vehicle which was stopped at a traffic light.

Two officers who observed the collision on East Sprague and Havana, which has been classified as vehicular assault, said that Bailey showed signs of being intoxicated when they spoke with her.

Bailey was arrested for a DUI and taken to Deaconess Hospital for medical care and a blood draw. Once at the hospital, she reportedly attempted to bite a nurse, spit on two nurses and hit two nurses.

Court documents state that Bailey had her license suspended and that she failed to install an ignition interlock in her vehicle. She was previously arrested for a DUI in July 2023.

Bailey is facing 8 counts related to the incident on March 9. She is currently in Spokane County Jail with a $100,000 bond.
