Winds stick around with heavy snow over mountain passes overnight Sunday into Monday

It’s been an extremely windy evening across the Inland Northwest, with several areas seeing gusts of 40 mph or more—sensors at Spokane International Airport have picked up gusts of 51 mph over the last several hours, with Tri-Cities topping out at 48 over the last 24 hours.

Sustained winds in Spokane have remained between 30 and 35 mph consistently throughout Sunday evening, and look to stay right in that range by the time we reach midnight.

Winds are expected to remain very gusty around the region overnight, so be sure to bring in or tie down all the loose items around your yard like your garbage can or patio furniture, and be extra careful if you drive a high-profile vehicle like a semi-truck due to strong crosswinds.
