Weekend of events held to honor woman killed by estranged boyfriend

SPOKANE, Wash. – A Spokane pub is hosting a fundraiser event in memory of Megan Stedman, the woman killed by her estranged boyfriend.

Stedman was 34 years old and was “loved deeply throughout the entire community and beyond.”

Events will be held in Stedman’s honor the weekend of Feb 16- 17 to raise funds for her kids.

Feb. 16

A vigil will be held at St Aloysius Catholic Church at 7:30 p.m.

Feb. 17

A celebration of life will be held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, visit the events page.From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Stedman’s oldest sister will dedicate a billboard poem titled Shimmer and Shine to her. The poem will run on a digital bulletin with other ads. Please do not pull over on the highway and park near a business off Seltice Way in Post Falls. From 8 p.m. to close, PJ’s Pub will host a gathering to honor Stedman, her family, and her friends. Madison Bender and PJ’s partnered to do a bracelet fundraiser to raise money for Megan’s children. They suggest a donation of $5 for a bracelet, and the fundraiser will run until the end of February. You can donate through cash jars, Venmo, GoFundMe or the donation button in the POS system at PJ’s. PJ’s is also donating all proceeds of Bacardi Sales (Megans Drink of Choice) on the 17th.

“There is nothing we can do or say that will lessen the hurt, and the ripples of pain that will continue to be felt by this great tragedy,” said PJ’s pub in a Facebook post.
