HOUSTON, Texas — As the No. 2 Washington Huskies and No. 1 Michigan Wolverines face off in the College Football Playoff National Championship game, the state’s governors placed a little wager ahead of Monday night’s game.

Over X, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Washington Governor Jay Inslee called each other out as both undefeated teams face off in Houston, Texas.

🤝 It’s on @GovInslee! Let’s see who goes undefeated.I’m confident @UMichfootball will be the Victors on Monday. Go Blue! pic.twitter.com/w3sqnCAJR8— Governor Gretchen Whitmer (@GovWhitmer) January 5, 2024

Both the Huskies and the Wolverines are undefeated with a perfect 14-0 going into this championship game.

Gov. Whitmer over X said, “Michigan is going to win this thing and I look forward to saying, ‘I told you so.'” But Gov. Inslee comments back, “Look Gretchen, our letter is ‘W’ for win and Washington. Okay, this is in the bag.”

As both teams and governors go into the game confident, Inslee and Whitmer placed a little friendly bet.

If the Washington Huskies win, Gov. Whitmer says that she will send some of Michigan’s finest brewskis from Big Lake Brewing in Holland.

But if the Michigan Wolverines win, Gov. Inslee will send some bottles of Naches Heights wine which is “some of the finest wine in the world right from Washington state.”

The Huskies and the Wolverines will take the field for the CFP National Championship Game on Jan. 8 at 4:30 p.m. and will be broadcasted on ESPN.
