Washington loses 4,500 jobs in April

OLYMPIA, Wash. New numbers released by the Washington Employment Security Department show the state lost 4,500 jobs in April.

Washington’s unemployment rate is 5.2%. The current national unemployment average is 4.3%.

Washington’s unemployment rate for April 2025 was 4.5%.

Ferry County has the highest unemployment rate at 7.9%

Spokane’s unemployment rate is 4.6%.

Asotin County has the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 3.4%.

According to the Employment Security Department, the leading industries for growth are Financial activities, Manufacturing and Transportation, warehousing and utilities.
