Malware attack forces Chelan County to reschedule court dates

WENTACHEE, Wash. — A malware attack on Chelan County’s computer system forced the county to reschedule court appearances Tuesday morning.

Presiding Judge Jonathan M. Volyn released a statement that read, “Due to technology failure issues, all hearings, except jail in-custody defendants for criminal appearances, shall be continued.”

According to Chelan County Emergency Management, there are changes for people who have jury duty.

Jury Groups 21, 22 and 23, who are scheduled to call in tonight after 5 p.m., are excused and done for the term.

Jury Groups 1-8, who are scheduled to call inon Friday, May 29, after 5 p.m., are asked to check the Emergency Management’s Facebook page.

The attack was discovered Sunday morning by the Chelan County IT department. Crews are still trying to assess the damage.

People who have an emergency can call Rivercom 911. The sheriff’s office said the malware attack should not impact response times.
