Franklin County couple wanted for murder, child sex abuse arrested in Mexico

Edgar Casian-Garcia, 35, was booked in Franklin County in Sept. and his girlfriend Araceli Medina, 39, was booked on Nov. 7, according to jail records.

The investigation into Casian-Garcia and Medina began after the disappearance of eight-year-old Edgar Casian, who was last seen by his mother in Pasco back in 2020.

In 2022, human remains were found and identified as Casian in Benton County. Through investigation, Casian-Garcia and Medina became suspects in his death.

The couple went on the run and were added to the U.S. Marshal’s 15 Most Wanted List, charged with aggravated murder of a child, rape in the first degree of another child and three counts of assault of a child.

On March 22 the couple was arrested in Mexico and were extradited back to the United States. Within the past few months, Eastern District of Washington Deputies coordinated with the international law enforcement community to apprehend Medina and Casian-Garcia to answer for their charges. The Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is handling the prosecution.

This is an ongoing investigation; information will be updated as we learn more.
