Washington begins an early allergy season amid warmer weather

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Washington Department of Health says that allergy season is becoming longer and more severe than ever before due to rising temperatures.

The concerns in climate change and warming temperatures, experts say, have a direct impact on the pollen, starting the pollination 20 days earlier than before and therefore causing allergic reactions in many Americans.

Washington and the Spokane area can account for the changing weather as the WDOH says that summers are getting longer and hotter, according to climate scientists in the state.

Just this week in Spokane, there were record-breaking warm temperatures for this time of year, sparking pollination and allergies.

Pollen allergies affect millions of Americans every year, but the WDOH says that you can help change that!

A study being done by Emory University is working to track pollen and its effects, and you can help by submitting a pollen sample.

Giving more insight and research samples for the university to help those who suffer during this time of year.

More information on how you can submit a pollen sample can be found here.
