SPOKANE, Wash.- A new video provided by a witness of a Feb. 12 police shooting in downtown Spokane shows the moments before the suspect was engaged with lethal force by officers.

In the video the man can be seen wielding a knife, which the Spokane Police Department (SPD) say he threatened to use to take his own life and injure bystanders.

The individual is seen dropping the weapon after being told to do so by SPD officers.

The woman who provided the footage to NonStop Local KHQ says that after the video ended, the suspect attempted to pick up the knife again, causing police to shoot him. She stopped recording because she thought the incident was over.

The SPD says that tasers were initially attempted to subdue the man, which failed, at which point two officers shot him.

The suspect was hospitalized after the altercation with SPD. There is no additional information about his status at this time.
