MOSCOW, Idaho — A local piano teacher at the University of Idaho has been inducted into the Steinway & Sons Music Teacher Hall of Fame!
Dr. Robert McVey, has been recognized by the Steinway Piano Gallery of Spokane for his work, commitment and passion as a piano educator.
Steinway Piano Gallery of Spokane has been a part of the community for 15 years and has been a sponsor for Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival and Musicfest Northwest. They also are a exclusive dealer for Steinway & Sons pianos in the greater Spokane region.
Pianist Robert McVey has performed as a soloist and collaborative pianist throughout the United States and in Europe, Asia, Cyprus, New Zealand, and Mexico. He has worked with acclaimed pianists like Menahem Pressler, Jack Winerock, Anton Nel, Herbert Stessin, and Henry Doskey, and he has coached with artists such as Claude Frank, Janos Starker, William Warfield, Eric Rosenblith, and the Emerson Quartet.
This fall, only 67 teachers in the United States and Canada were inducted into the Music Teacher Hall of Fame. The teachers selected are known for their “outstanding instruction and leadership in acoustic piano education and their commitment to teaching in their community for over a decade.”
Each teacher was nominated by a Steinway & Sons showroom in their region.
