MOSCOW, Idaho – University of Idaho’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) is set to host the groundbreaking ceremony of their Meat Science and Innovation Center.

The Meat Science and Innovation Center will honor Ron Richard, former manager and instructor of Vandal Brand Meats.

The new center will replace the current facility, built in the 1960s. The improved facility will “enable CALS to expand teaching programs, research, workforce development and public outreach opportunities,” said John O’Connell, University of Idaho’s Assistant Director of Communication.

Construction will begin shortly after the groundbreaking and is projected to be complete by the fall of 2025. The building will be 12,750 square feet and cost an estimated $14.1 million.

The ceremonial groundbreaking is from 4-7 p.m. on Oct 14 at the University of Idaho Seed Potato Germplasm Laboratory.
