MOSES LAKE, Wash. – A Grant County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) Deputy is recovering at home after colliding with another deputy while on their way to a fatal vehicle vs pedestrian.

On Dec. 28, two GSCO deputies were assisting the Washington State Patrol (WSP) with a vehicle versus pedestrian crash near SR 17 at McConihe Road, where one person was confirmed dead.

Deputy Rob Harris and Corporal Jason McDonnell were driving south on SR 17 with Deputy Harris ahead of Corporal McDonnell. Harris slowed and turned his patrol car in an attempt to block the highway at Northlake Road; that’s when the crash between him and Corporal McDonnell happened.

McDonnel drove into a light pole, knocking it down and continued for about 300 feet before stopping back on the highway.

Harris sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated and released from Samaritan Healthcare. McDonnell was not transported to the hospital.

Now, a collision review board will conduct an investigation. When complete, GSCO decides what happens moving forward.
