SPOKANE, Wash. — Republicans have formally declared they are running for Cathy McMorris Rogers’s seat after she announced that she will not be seeking reelection.

Brian Dansel made his announcement soon after the news of McMorris Rodgers’s retirement. Dansel was an advisor for the National Economic Council and the Department of Agriculture under the Trump Administration.

John Gunner is running for the position. He is a former Child Protective Service employee and had previously run for a US Senate seat.

Other candidates include Spokane County Treasurer Michael Baumgartner and former Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward; however, nothing has been confirmed.
