Traffic Alert: Lanes on Hamilton Street will close as crews install vehicle detection systems

SPOKANE, Wash. — Head’s up drivers, the Washington State Department of Transportation has announced that they will be temporarily closing the right north and southbound lanes on Hamilton Street Wednesday morning.

Starting on Jan. 31 at 9 a.m., crews will be closing the right lanes of both northbound and southbound Hamilton Street at the Trent Ave/SR 290 intersection. The lane closures are part of a proactive measure by the city to install advanced vehicle detection systems at the signal.

These systems are designed to streamline traffic flow, reduce congestion and enhance the overall safety of the intersection.

To install this system, they will have the right lanes on both sides of Hamilton Street closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Feb. 2.

Drivers are advised to plan their routes accordingly and to expect minor delays during these travel hours. The city urges commuters to consider alternative routes, carpooling or utilizing public transportation to minimize inconvenience.

Use caution if you are driving through this construction zone. City officials urge drivers to adhere to posted speed limits and be mindful of the presence of construction workers and equipment. There will be traffic control personnel will be on-site to guide motorists through the construction zone and ensure a smooth traffic flow.
