Spokane woman receives prison time for vehicular homicide

SPOKANE, Wash. – Selina Juarez will spend over eight years in prison following her sentencing hearing for vehicular homicide on Friday.

Juarez was arrested in 2021 for driving drunk and crashing her vehicle in a rollover collision with a fire hydrant, which killed passenger Brandon McDonald.

Jacqueline Collins, McDonald’s mother, asked that the judge give Juarez a maximum sentence at the March 8 hearing.

“I ask that you give her the [maximum] that you are able to, if for no other reason than to let her come to grips with what she’s done,” Collins said.

Juarez apologized to the family during her sentencing, and will now begin her prison term.
