SPOKANE, Wash. — The Lilac City is buzzing as Spokane Velocity FC will be hosting their first ever home game at One Spokane Stadium as they take on the Richmond Kickers on Saturday.

Although their inaugural game against the Greenville Triumph didn’t end in a win, Spokane Velocity is ready to welcome fans to their new stadium and excited to hear the support from the stands.

509 Syndicate, the first club supporter group, is up and running! They have been waiting a long time for a professional soccer team in Spokane, and now they have one to support. They, along with other soccer fans, are ready to see this new team play in person.

ABOUT THE KICKERS

The Richmond Kickers were founded in 1993 and played their inaugural season in the United States Interregional Soccer League (USISL). But in 2019, the Kickers announced that they were self-relegating and becoming inaugural members of the new third-division league, USL League One. Last season, the Kickers had a tough go as they placed second to last in the league. But during the 2024–25 season, they have high hopes that their team will perform better.

This game against Velocity will be their opening match of the regular season and will be the first opponent to play on the One Spokane Stadium turf.

ABOUT THE VELOCITY

In Spokane Velocity’s inaugural game of the franchise, they conceded three goals to the Greenville Triumph despite having more possessions. Although they lost 3-1, Josh Dolling scored the first ever goal for Spokane Velocity FC off a penalty kick.

March 18 will mark the first-ever professional soccer match in the city of Spokane. With that, the community is very excited to represent this new franchise. As of this week, there were only a few tickets left for what is expected to be a sellout of more than 5,000 fans packed into One Spokane Stadium!

As fans are packed in the stands, Velocity will definitely be ready to defend their home turf for the first time!
