SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Pride Parade and Festival is just 60 days away.

The annual celebration which has been celebrated by Spokane’s LGBTQ+ community for decades will begin on June 8.

This June will mark the first Pride Month since a state law defining the defacements of pride flags on public property as a hate crime was signed into law by Governor Jay Inslee (D).

It has been a busy year for LGBTQ+ policy and advocacy in Washington. The Washington Education Association launched a successful LGBTQ+ Inclusive Book Fund in March which drew positive reactions from rural school districts.

On a state-wide level, the Washington LGBTQ Commission is expanding its advisory councils.

Additional information on upcoming celebrations can be found on Spokane Pride’s website.
