Spokane prepares for cold weather: Resources and services available

SPOKANE, Wash. – The City of Spokane prepares for cold temperatures and gets community resources ready.

Spokane’s Mayor, Lisa Brown Administration sent a release that reminds communities of the resources available in Spokane as temperatures are starting to drop to below freezing this week.

For those without shelter, the city is providing resources for transportation and daytime services.

Here are locations of Spokane Public Libraries that will have resources available during the day:

906 W. Main St. – Central2111 W. Wellesley Ave. – Shadle 402 S. Pittsburg St. – Liberty Park3324 S. Perry St. – South Hill4110 N. Cook St. – Hillyard4909 W. Barnes Rd. – Indian Trail

There will be additional seating inside the Spokane Transit Authority Plaza downtown during normal business hours.

The city will also be providing resources for those who do not have reliable transportation in the cold.

Salvation Army has vans that can meet 24 hours a day to help transport people to local shelters. They can be reached at (509) 280-6860.

Spokane Transit Authority will be offering free rides once it hits 32 degrees or lower, to anyone traveling from warming centers.
