SPOKANE, Wash. — Police are looking for a man who they believe attempted to carjack an 82-year-old on Sunday, leaving the elderly man with minor injuries.

According to a release from the Spokane Police Department, the 82-year-old was filling his car with gas at a station in the 3100 block of East 17th Avenue when another man attempted to steal it.

On Wednesday, police released gas station security camera video that showed a suspect walk up to the gas stall and hide on the opposite side of the pump. The video shows the suspect wait for a few moments, then walk around the pumps and push the victim to the ground.

The suspect then got into the victim’s car and tried to turn it on, failed to do so and ran off.

Detectives said on Wednesday that they hope the public can help them identify the suspect using the videos and pictures they provided.

If you have any information, police ask you to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233 and reference case #2024-20005351. Police said the suspect is also a person of interest in other crimes.
