SPOKANE, Wash. — The Downtown Spokane Partnership is increasing staffing this week to “put our best foot forward” for visitors in town for the NCAA Tournament.

The Downtown Spokane Partnership (DSP) provides services to an 80-block area in the heart of the city. Emilie Cameron, president of the DSP, said giving directions and assisting visitors are just some of the services that ambassadors for the DSP provide.

“They are patrolling downtown… providing employee escorts, helping people with questions. We often times will find people looking for their car, not remembering where they parked. Lots of hospitality services,” Cameron said.

In addition to ambassadors, the DSP has a crew dedicated to cleaning up the city and removing graffiti. Cameron said crews are working seven days a week to make downtown look great for visitors.

Nicholas Casey, one of the ambassadors, said the DSP won’t be alone as they gear up for a busy weekend.

“This weekend we have some extra help coming in, making sure we have a presence throughout the evening hours as well. Just making sure those that are in town for all the various sports competitions whether it’s the NCAA tournament, the volleyball tournaments, making sure that they know, they are welcome here as well,” Casey said.

The ambassadors are extending their hours this week to help fans in town for the NCAA tournament get directions, sightseeing recommendations, and even restaurant suggestions.

“We’re here to help out with anything they might need. As far as offering directions, we are great tour pointing people. We can say hey its over here, point people in the direction they need to go,” Casey said.

Cameron looks forward to the business of the week because she knows it means people will be enjoying all that the city has to offer.
