SPOKANE, Wash. — Nadine Woodward conceded to Lisa Brown in the race for Spokane Mayor Monday evening, wishing Brown well in her first term.

NonStop Local KHQ called the race for Brown on Friday, following the judgement of our partners at the Spokesman-Review.

Woodward was elected mayor in 2019, beating then-Spokane City Council President Ben Stuckart.

“Being able to serve the city I love as mayor has been an honor and a privilege. We embraced the opportunity in every challenge, put the community first in everything we did, and accomplished so much to advance your priorities.

Woodward said she has already spoken with Brown to congratulate her and offer the support of her office to facilitate an orderly transition.

“I will leave office in a few short weeks enriched by the relationships I have been built, strengthened by the community’s resolve, and deeply humbled by the experience,” Woodward said. “Thank you, Spokane, for your love and support. I am forever grateful.”

A spokesperson for Brown’s campaign declined to comment Friday evening on the mayor’s concession.
