SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown brought her five transition committees together with city leaders Thursday morning to discuss priorities for the mayor’s first 100 days.

Her committees offered recommendations and heard feedback from Spokane City Councilmembers. The recommendations ranged topic, touching on everything from public safety to the economy.

“I was excited to learn that recommendations from the mayor’s transition committees were centered around community engagement,” said Council President Betsy Wilkerson. “I believe that to serve the city and our citizens, it requires understanding community concerns and incorporating all of these into the work to move Spokane forward.”

How the city would work with other local leaders to address public safety in light of the failure of Measure 1 in 2023 was a major topic of conversation. The measure would have helped establish a new jail, among other public safety priorities.
