Spokane home engulfed in flames Wednesday morning, homeowners escape safely

SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane home was engulfed in flames Wednesday morning as multiple fire agencies arrived on scene.

On Jan. 10 around 9:45 a.m., firefighters were called to a working structure fire on south Plymouth Road.

23 engines arrived on scene at 10:05 a.m. and reported heavy fire showing from the home and began making an attack on the fire.

The roof and floor were compromised from the heavy fire while firefighters were inside. There are currently multiple engines on scene on the defense mode to contain the fire from the outside.

Fire crews also reported that there is a downed power line in the area.

As of 10:50 a.m., Spokane County Fire District 3 reports that crews have the main body of the fire knocked down and are working on overhaul operations.

A couple who owns the home were home when the fire started and were able to get out safely. At this time they have two cats that they have not been able to locate yet.

The wife heard glass shatter in the home when she discovered the fire upstairs. The husband was downstairs working, his internet went out and as he got upstairs he saw smoke and flames.

Him and his wife were able to get out safely but were unable to grab any of their belongings inside.

According to the couple, they thought they would be able to put it out on their own but the flames rapidly spread throughout the house.

Multiple agencies are currently on scene working to contain this fire.

Investigators are also on scene to investigate what caused this incident.
