SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane Fire Department (SFD) members successfully rescued a duckling trapped in a storm grate and reunited it with its mother.

The incident occurred last week when SFD crews discovered a duckling stuck in a storm grate on the South Hill.

Spokane fire crews promptly opened the storm grate, safely retrieved the stranded duckling, and located its mother. SFD reported that the duckling was joyfully reunited with its mom.

“Not to be outdone by their colleagues at Station 5, our firefighters at Station 11 rescued a duckling from a storm grate last week and successfully reunited it with a happy momma!” SFD said in their Facebook post.
