Spokane County deputies find and recover body from Spokane River

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane County deputies and detectives are investigating a recovered body that was found in the Spokane River earlier this afternoon.

On March 21, around 2:00 pm, Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies and Washington State Park rangers responded to the report of a body floating in the Spokane River, north of 7 Mile Road.

The Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol Unit and Dive Team members also responded to assist with the recovery of the person, who appeared to have been in the water for some time.

Major Crimes Detectives and Forensic Unit personnel arrived to collect evidence and document the scene.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the decedent, along with the cause and manner of death, at a later time when appropriate.

This remains an active investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
