SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane City Council will host a Council Community Days event on April 8 celebrating 20th century activist Dolores Huerta.

Huerta was a critical voice in the United Farm Workers movement, which represented the largest organized labor campaign of rural and farm workers in late 20th century American history.

UFW organizers, particularly Huerta, are responsible for improvements in the legal rights of agricultural workers across the United States, particularly California.

The City Council event coincides with Huerta’s birthday and will be cohosted with Latinos en Spokane, Mujeres in Action and Manzanita House.

Interested Spokanites can attend the event at the City Council Chambers from 5 to 6:30 pm.
