Significant drug seizure throughout Idaho leads to expanded investigation in Montana

COEUR D’ ALENE, Idaho – The Idaho State Police (ISP) Domestic Highway Enforcement Team (DHE) made a significant drug seizure throughout the state in the continuous fight against illegal substances.

DHE, assisted by the Idaho Falls Police Department, conducted a traffic stop near Idaho Falls on Dec. 12. During the stop, law enforcement observed suspicious behavior and searched the vehicle.

During their search, law enforcement found the following:

2.7 pounds of methamphetamine 2.7 pounds of cocaine Over 5,300 pills of fentanyl Drug paraphernalia

In the Coeur d’Alene, the DHE seized almost a pound and a half of methamphetamine and nearly 4,800 fentanyl pills. This discovery led to an expanded investigation in Montana, where investigators found almost a pound of methamphetamine leaving Treasure Valley, headed towards Twin Falls.

“Law enforcement professionals’ effective responses during encounters showcase the importance of patrols and traffic stops to identify and disrupt criminal activities. Through proactive measures, partnerships, and high-visibility patrols, ISP continues working to keep the public safe,” said ISP.

Over 400 fentanyl pills and two guns were seized near Pocatello.
