Shooting suspect taken into custody, Grant County Sheriff’s Office cancel shelter in place

GRANT COUNTY, Wash. — The shooting suspect has been taken into custody and Grant County Sheriff’s Office have canceled the shelter-in-place for the surrounding areas.

Grant County Sheriff’s Office has reported that one person in Ephrata has been shot after they issued a shelter in place for the area.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 18, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office issued a shelter in place for residents living near F Street SW between Division and First SW Ephrata, you are asked to shelter in place. If you are nearby, please stay inside.

About 10 minutes later, GCSO updated their Facebook page reporting that one person has been shot and was rescued from the scene. The courthouse and nearby schools have also been placed in lockdown.

The location of the home about two blocks away from the Grant County Jail.

At this time, we don’t know the extent of the injuries and residents are urged to stay away from the area.

According to Kyle Foreman, Grant County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer, the female victim has critical injuries and is being taken to Columbia Basin Hospital where she will be life flighted.

The report came in when the women was shot at the home.

The suspect then barricaded themselves inside the home and has not surrender. A tactical response team is currently on scene working on a peaceful surrender and negotiations.

Grant County Sheriff’s Office says the suspect is not a threat to the community at this time, but businesses and schools will remain on lockdown until resolution.
