Second suspect arrested in connection to drive by shooting last May

SPOKANE, Wash. – A second suspect was arrested in connection to a drive-by shooting in Spokane last May.

According to the Spokane Police Department (SPD), officers with the Spokane Police Department responded to the area of 6th and Division for reports of a drive-by shooting in May. 18, 2023. Benjamin J. Hill, 41, was arrested in connection to the shooting on Oct. 20, 2023, on charges of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of another’s identification.

Major Crimes detectives developed probable cause to arrest the second suspect in connection to this shooting.

42-year-old Lori M. Thom was arrested on Jan. 11 on charges of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault. Thom is also facing charges of criminal conspiracy in relation to a different incident in King County from Aug. 2022. Thom was booked into the Bonneville County Jail and faces extradition to Spokane for the charges related to the May shooting.

According to SPD, Hill has been arrested three times in recent months for related incidents. He faces a total of 13 charges, including two counts of a drive-by shooting, four counts of third-degree malicious mischief, attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault. He is being held in the Spokane County Jail on a nearly 2 million dollar bond.
