SCRAPS First Horse Rescue of 2017

0

Yesterday, January 5th, SCRAPS Animal Protection Officers executed a search warrant in the West Plains area of unincorporated Spokane County after receiving a call from a concerned citizen.   SCRAPS Animal Protection Officers were investigating for insufficient shelter and concerns about potable water and sufficient food for horses.   These officers removed 9 horses from the location and they have been examined by a veterinarian.

This is an ongoing open investigation and no further information is available at this time.  The horses are currently not for adoption.

SCRAPS would like to remind all pet owners including those with horses that all animals need shelter especially when it gets this cold.

It is important that animals have continuous access to fresh unfrozen water so that they can stay hydrated.   Animals also need nutritious food so that they can maintain an appropriate weight particularly during our winter months.
