SPOKANE, Wash. – A Rogers High School student brought a gun to the school’s campus on Thursday.

In a letter sent to parents, Principal John Hammil confirmed a student was in possessions of a gun during the day. When staff was notified, they were able to seclude the student and take the weapon.

Local law enforcement was made aware of the incident and are conducting an investigation. The school said they will work with law enforcement to support the investigation when needed.

“Safety is our top priority, and we will notify families whenever there is a safety concern or threat at their child’s school. We encourage anyone who witnesses suspicious activity at school or knows of someone in an unsafe situation to call 509-354-SAFE (7233), or report it by text or email at safeline@spokaneschools.org,” said Hammil.
