SPOKANE, Wash. – Rogers High School sent out a letter to families on Wednesday, informing them that a suspected bed bug was found at school.

Principal John Hammil informed families that the insect found in the classroom has not been confirmed as a bed bug yet, but it is a possibility.

He also mentioned that as soon as he was informed of the situation, he immediately submitted a work order for the fumigation of the impacted classrooms.

The source of the suspected bed bug has not been determined, but the district has allocated extra cleaning staff for the impacted areas.

Further investigation of the insect and potential infested areas will be conducted by staff, and the school will implement a pest management plan with a licensed pest control professional if needed.

The school remains open at this time as further investigations continue.
