Regional ski resorts reopening trails after snowstorm

SPOKANE, Wash. — After an El Niño winter, people can expect to hit the ski trails as regional ski resorts open their trails with fresh snow.

Mt. Spokane Ski & Snowboard Park has all 52 trails, with 14 trails fully groomed. The ski resort currently has a snow depth of 33 inches. All five chairs, Lodge 1 and Lodge 2 are open. Vista House is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and No-Li Mountain Taphouse is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

After postponing night skiing earlier this month due to the lack of snow, Mt. Spokane plans to hold the first day on Jan. 10. Night skiing runs from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets cost $39 and can be purchased through the website.

Schweitzer Mountain Resort is running 41 out of 92 trails, with six of their lifts running. According to Schweitzer’s website, the mountain resort has 63 inches of snow.

49 Degrees North Mountain Resort has 70 out of 82 trails open, with 19 of 82 trails groomed. Ski NW Rockies states the ski resort has a snow depth of 44 inches. Six lifts are open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. starting Jan. 14; the last chair will be open at 4:00 p.m.

Lookout Pass Ski & Recreation Area has 32 out of 38 trails open, with 20 trails groomed and four lifts open. Their current snow depth is 35 inches. Lookout Pass is reopening its Free Ski and Snowboard School for children on Saturday, Jan. 13.

Silver Mountain Resort opened 29 of its trails, with ten groomed. They currently have two operating lifts.
