Questmas at Northern Quest Casino brings Kalispel Tribe culture and traditions to life

AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — Questmas is back at Northern Quest Casino for the holiday season! This year they will be paying homage to the Kalispel Tribes traditions and culture.

Northern Quest Casino was built on Kalispel Tribe Grounds. They hold multiple events throughout the year to pay homage and respect to the tribes traditions and cultures. Just last month, they held events every week in honor of Native American Heritage Month!

But for December, they will be hosting Questmas but with a twist!

For each element of their display they will have signs placed with both English and Salish translations to teach the community about the Kalispel Tribes native language.

Different decorations around Questmas will be dedicated to the the Kalispel ways of life. They will have a Tule Hut that resembles what native tribe members used to live in. They will also have a canoe, which was the Kalispel’s form of transportation.

According to Kalispel Tribe member and resort experience project manager, Tina Nenema, the goal is to inform the public about the traditions of the Kalispel Tribe while enjoying a family-friendly Christmas experience.

Now, Questmas will take place from Dec. 1 – Feb. 17 and will be open 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Monday – Thursday and 12 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Friday – Sunday. During this time you can learn about Kalispel culture, listen to music, sip hot cocoa or cider, take holiday pictures and go ice skating for free!

The event will be happening at the back side of Norther Quest Casino. For more information about the event, go to the Northern Quest Casino website!
