SPOKANE, Wash. – Over 500 Providence workers have been on strike for better wages and benefits at Sacred Heart in Spokane for over a week, and now the end of the strike is within sight.

In a statement provided by Providence they announced the strike will end on Tuesday, April 30, at 8:30 p.m. meaning the members of the UFCW will return to work duties.

UFCW members will resume patient care immediately after the strike ends.

“We are looking at bargaining dates and are hopeful that both parties can come together and work to find a resolution,” said Providence. “We’re proud of the Sacred Heart caregiver teams who worked to ensure our community had uninterrupted, high-quality care during the strike.”

One Providence employee, Shane Sullivan, who has been on strike, is prepared to return to work but is still awaiting negotiations.

“We hope that they will meet with us to continue bargaining, but we don’t know when that is going to be,” said Sullivan.
