SPOKANE, Wash. — Premera Blue Cross Insurance and MultiCare reached an agreement on Wednesday, saving over 100,000 patients in Washington from losing healthcare coverage.

The announcement was made on May 22, just over one week before their May 31 deadline.

“This new agreement ensures that our members continue to have access to quality care at an affordable price and that MultiCare is fairly compensated,” Premera said.

If an agreement had not been reached, approximately 103,000 members would have been affected across Washington, with 11,000 members affected in Spokane.

“Effective immediately, this agreement allows patients to continue accessing high-quality care without disruption,” a MultiCare spokesperson said. “At MultiCare, our mission is partnering for healing and a healthy future, and this new agreement reflects our commitment to the communities we serve by maintaining essential partnerships that prioritize patient welfare.”
