Police respond to incident near Gonzaga

SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane Police Department (SPD) responded to an incident on East Springfield and North Hamilton Street.

SPD Public Information Officer Daniel Strassenberg stated that around 1 p.m., 911, received a call from a male at around the 300 block near North Market Street.

The caller told 911 that he made contact with individuals whom he believed stole his property and decided to meet them.

During the meeting, there was a confrontation that led the two individuals to chase and the complainant claims that shots were fired. SPD emphasized that it is currently unclear whether any parties engaged in gunshot fire.

That was when SPD got involved and gave chase to the suspect’s car on Hamilton and Springfield where police successfully pinned the vehicle.

The four suspects were safely removed from their vehicle.

SPD reported that there was a female passenger in the suspect’s vehicle who sustained a serious head wound and SPD is still determining whether this is a gunshot wound. The female has been transported to the hospital.
