SPOKANE, Wash. – Around midnight Monday morning, Spokane Police responded to a shooting on Wellesley in the Nevada Heights neighborhood. NonStop Local has since been able to obtain scanner traffic detailing conversations between officers and dispatchers leading up to the shooting.

A woman called 911 saying she was shot, “We had her on the line. She says she has been shot, but now she is no longer answering us,” said dispatchers.

Then, officials received a second call from someone else who was also in the home, the victim’s son: “Another caller that says that there’s a male who possibly shot his mother.”

Scanner traffic matched what Interim Chief Justin Lungren told NonStop Local just hours after the shooting Monday morning; the victim’s son was also inside watching the suspect from a camera.

“Mom and suspect are downstairs; suspect is on the couch with a gun.”

Interim Chief Lundgren told NonStopLocal Police that they were able to gain entry and exchanged fire with the suspect, “Suspects inside has been shot.”

Officials tried to save the suspect, but he died at the scene, “all officers ok, female with medics now.”
