Over 900 pounds of ready-to-eat spiced deli ham recalled after misbranding

WASHINGTON — 945 pounds of ready-to-eat spiced deli ham products are recalled due to misbranding and undeclared allergen.

According to the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), Hormel Foods, an Austin, Minn. establishment, recalled its products after retail deli employees found cheese in the meat. The spiced deli ham product did not contain milk and was not on the label.

The ready-to-eat spiced deli ham product was packaged on November 17, 2023. The following products are subject to recall [view labels]:

5-lb. plastic casing or various weight packages sliced from a retail deli containing “Hormel Spiced Ham With Natural Juices” with lot code 051424 represented on the immediate packaging. The product is packaged in boxed cases labeled as “HML SPCD HAM-D SHAPE 9/5LB” with a case code 04472 and PREPARE/FRZ BY date of 05/14/24-07.

There are no confirmed reports of adverse reactions from consuming any of these products, and anyone concerned about an illness should contact a health provider.

FSIS is concerned that some products may be in delis, food service locations, refrigerators, and freezers. Companies with this product are urged not to sell it. Customers who have purchased these products and have a milk allergy should not consume them.
