Over 8 million bags of laundry detergent recalled due to serious injury risk

CINCINNATI, Oh.-Procter and Gamble has recalled 8.2 million defective laundry detergent packets due to the risk of serious injury.

The recall, issued on April 5, includes Tide Pods, Gain Flings, Ace Pods and Ariel Pods liquid laundry detergent packets packaged in flexible film bags, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The outer packaging meant to prevent access to the detergent can reportedly split, posing a risk of serious injury, especially to children if the detergent is swallowed.

Recalled lot codes can be found on the bottom of the detergent packaging and can be checked at pg.com/bags. Anyone who has detergent included in the recall should secure them out-of-reach of children and contact Procter and Gamble for a refund and a child-resistant bag to store the detergent.

No injuries related to the recalled detergent products have been reported at this time.
